Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $57,300-$70,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under general direction of the Senior Superintendent of Physical Plant, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for management of the campus tree resource, irrigation systems, turf resource, and Integrated Pest Management operations. Supervision of specialty crews including of tree crew (3); irrigation specialists (2), turf crew (3); and an Integrated Pest Manager (1).
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and goals and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established policies. Determines changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the organization. Reviews situations and develops solutions. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. May serve as subject matter expert.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.
Must possess Arborist certification (Registered Consulting Arborist).
Ability to safely work around tree crew operations and access trees for inspection using aerial lift and/or proper climbing equipment.
Ability to work with or in proximity of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides.
Experience in managing tree crew operations in the maintenance of an institutional campus.
Experience in managing irrigation operations in the maintenance of an institutional campus.
Experience in managing turf and sports field operations in the maintenance of an institutional campus.
Experience in pest management in the maintenance of an institutional campus.
Experience with direct and secondary levels of supervision, including contract compliance, performance management, and fair hiring.
