Qualifications

•      At least 2 years of teaching experience in early childhood
•      Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education required

Curriculum and Teaching Methods

•      Understands the academic, social and emotional needs of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students
•      Knowledge of engaging and innovative teaching practices in a variety of subjects: reading, mathematics, science, social studies and writing
•      Experience with or appreciation for project/constructivist learning approach and an ability to integrate real-life learning experiences into the curriculum
•      Ability and willingness to differentiate instruction for students
•      Understanding of the environment as a teaching tool
•      Familiar with Lucy Calkins reading and writing workshop, a balanced literacy approach and teaching foundational skills in reading
•      Experience with Responsive Classroom approach preferred
•      Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum in a meaningful way
•      Using data to inform and guide instruction and knowledge of authentic assessment practices
•      Proficient in Google Docs, Smartboard and iPads as a communication and teaching tool

Work with Teaching Team

•      Experience working in a teaching team
•      Positive attitude and eager to work collaboratively with full time teacher, peers and colleagues in developing curriculum and planning for instruction
•      A desire to respond to and initiate the solving of problems through clear and open communication
•      Open to feedback and able to take risks
•      Highly interested in pursuing professional development opportunities and dedicated to lifelong learning and possessing a growth mindset
