Fort Worth Academy is seeking a full time enthusiastic and passionate middle school teacher with experience teaching United States history and English for the 2018-19 school year. Fort Worth Academy is recognized as a leader in progressive education for students in grades K-8. Founded in 1982, the Academy is home to more than 200 students engaged in an innovative approach to teaching and learning that moved the school to the national and international forefront of education. The Academy offers an experience expertly designed for the foundation years: kindergarten through grade eight. Small class sizes of no more than fifteen students ensure every child receives highly personalized attention. A diverse, welcoming environment inspires students to discover and pursue their own paths to excellence and a comprehensive curriculum offers challenges in academics, athletics, and the arts. Skills/Experience: Innovative and dynamic teacher who has demonstrated experience teaching diverse learners in a project based learning environment. Strong understanding of and appreciation for middle school students with proven success in engaging middle school learners. Enthusiasm for incorporating hands-on learning experiences in the classroom to engage students with United States history and literature. Ability to bring history to life and integrate current events at the appropriate level. Optimistic and flexible leader who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and understands the importance of developing entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators. Exceptional ability to relate and promote student engagement in a student-centered learning environment. Embraces and integrates technology into the learning experience of his/her students. Excellent communication skills and proactive problem solving skills. Strong classroom management, planning, and organizational skills. Team player who is optimistic, energetic, has a good sense of humor and willing to take initiative.

Degree/Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related field within the subject areas of English and/or History is required. Teaching certification and master’s level degree is highly desired.
