JOB SUMMARY Responsible for overseeing and managing one of four major divisions of the organization. Program areas include Aquatics, Sports Programs, Arts Programs, Pre-School, Senior Center, General Interest Summer Camps, and Museum operations. Collaborates to develop strategies for addressing District-wide issues or areas of concern involving other government agencies, community organizations, special interest groups, employees at large and the general public. Collaborates on overall strategic planning for the District including land and facility acquisition, development and usage. Responsible for building and sustaining strong community and intergovernmental relationships. Accountable for revenue & expenses of designated areas. Direct supervisory responsibility for several facility managers; indirect supervisory responsibility for several managers and supervisors, dozens of full-time employees, and as many as 500 part-time and/or seasonal employees.
QUALIFICATIONS Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in recreation, business, public administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. At least 10 years progressive experience required. Supervisory experience required. Preference given for experience in recreation or a public agency. Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable. Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
TARGET HIRING RANGE:$105,000 and up, DOQ (depending on qualifications)
