The Rashi School, the Boston area’s Reform Jewish independent school serving students in grades K–8, seeks a half-time (20 hours/week) Grade 8 Science Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Rashi is distinguished by exceptional academics, a strong sense of community, and a deep commitment to Jewish learning and social justice.
Teach two sections of 8th grade science (chemistry and biology/anatomy), three days a week.
Meet with supervisor weekly and Middle School Learning Specialist as needed.
Collaborate with the other Middle School Science Teacher.
Communicate regularly with parents either by e-mail, phone, or in person as needed; writing report cards.
Attend faculty meetings weekly on Wednesday afternoons
Participate in Middle School Back-to-School Night and two full days of parent-teacher conferences.
Participate in other aspects of school life as determined by the Head of Upper School.
Successful candidates will have an undergraduate or advanced degree in the sciences and 5-7 years of experience teaching middle and/or high school science. A passion for science and an outstanding ability to inspire and challenge students are essential.
