AUSL is seeking a Grant Writer to join the development team and secure financial support for AUSL’s programs. As a member of AUSL’s development team, this individual will be responsible for writing grant proposals/reports and providing research on private/public donor prospects. The scope of potential grant outreach is both local and national. Our ideal candidate has no less than four years of grant writing experience and a track record of securing grants. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter, can work independently, enjoys writing, and can manage several writing projects requiring input from various team members across AUSL and our network of schools. Writing responsibilities include writing entire proposals, critiquing, editing, and rewriting proposal drafts. This role also needs an individual who can, without supervisory authority, work across the organization to ensure grant related deadlines/ objectives are being met.
Write proposals to generate financial support for new and existing programs from corporations, foundations, family foundations, and government agencies.
Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making entity’s preferences and follow exactly each grantmakers guidelines for proposal submission.
Create and submit grant applications, letters of inquiry (LOIs), emails, and supporting documents ahead of deadlines.
Prepare progress reports and updates for foundation, corporate, and individual funders.
Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar and track deadlines for reports, letters of intent, and formal proposals.
In collaboration with team members, ensure that appropriate stewardship and post grant award requirements are met and participate directly in the stewardship of post-award process.
Edit and research related communications materials as needed.

Skills & Qualifications
Relevant undergraduate degree and a minimum of four years of proven experience in grant writing and grant management
Clear and concise writer who varies writing style to meet the needs of the audience
Skilled at synthesizing complex information and incorporating qualitative and quantitative data in written communications
Solutions oriented and can quickly resolve problems in a timely manner.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in an open office environment
Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, work well with others and thrive in a team setting
Passion for public education
