Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Head Teacher.
In this role, the teachers shall be responsible for working within the framework of Sunset Bay Community Services, NAEYC, DOH, DOE, and ACS policies and procedures. Teachers promote early childhood education for children and families both in and out of the classroom by providing sound supervision, developmentally appropriate lessons and community outings, and ensuring the health and safety of all children. Teachers develop positive parent relations and encourage parental involvement and the professional growth of classroom associates. Additionally, teachers conduct regular team meetings, attend staff meetings and seek out professional development opportunities to meet the needs of their classrooms. Teachers must document lessons, observations, assessments and all necessary paperwork.
Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival
Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play
Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt
Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed
Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines
Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made.
Supervises children closely and effectively throughout the day
Helps develop language by responding to sounds infants make or words children say; sings, talks throughout the day and interacts verbally during routines such as diaper changing, hand washing, etc
Creates an inviting learning environment
Lessons plans support all areas of development and reflect children's interests
Must have a 60 college credits working toward BS in Early Childhood Education
Two years relevant experience
Health and Safety Trainings
Warm, caring and outgoing personality
Ability to work well with others
Able to create and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and staff
BS and/or Master's in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field
Working toward teacher permanent certification
Permanent NYS Certification
