Westtown seeks a dynamic part-time Upper School 2-D Arts teacher to teach introductory and intermediate level 2D Studio Art courses. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced art educators as we implement a new process-oriented curriculum built on teaching iteration, reflection, visual literacy and personal growth, rooted in our Quaker traditions.
This person will teach 2-3 classes a semester while actively engaging as a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Department, with potential for on-campus housing and participation in the Upper School Residential Life program.
The candidate should have:
2 to 3 years experience teaching high school students.
At least a Bachelors degree in a related field (Masters degree strongly preferred).
A willingness to examine the changing role of art education for 21st century learners
and an eagerness to be part of a growing visual art program.
Experience with drawing, painting, printmaking and digital media is essential. Experience with dark room photography, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred.
Demonstrated experience as an active studio artist.
