Under the executive leadership and direction of the First Deputy Chancellor, Executive Superintendents have the primary responsibility for establishing structures and systems to support the work of the Superintendents in improving academic achievement for all students in the DOE to ensure that there is consistent implementation of programs, actions, and supports for both instructional and operations of schools. Executive Superintendents supervise school superintendents, field operations, and instructional support staff in a defined geographical region or administrative group as designated by the Chancellor, meeting and consulting with field and district leadership to identify significant instructional and support services issues and priorities, and communicates these issues to the First Deputy Chancellor and relevant central offices and divisions and ensures appropriate follow-up and timely response. Executive Superintendents will oversee the delivery of specific instructional and support services to districts and schools, and provides executive level professional development and mentoring to Community Superintendents High School Superintendents, and Executive Directors of Field Support. The salary for this position will be $190K+ and includes an excellent comprehensive benefits package. This is a position in New York City and requires a September 2018 start date. Must currently possess (or will possess by date of hire) New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL).
