Provide leadership and strategic direction for all functions pertaining to campus planning, including master plan development, capital construction and renovations. Represent Dell Medical School for campus planning, development, construction and renovations with UT Austin, UT System and contractors.
Provide professional guidance and oversight to Dell Medical School leadership and other internal and external stakeholders throughout the development and implementation of the planning, design, and construction phases of new buildings and major renovation projects. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Dell Medical School facilities. Manage the ongoing maintenance and repair of all Dell Medical School facilities in a manner that manages risks and costs to ensure the optimal level of operational up-time and cost control. This includes the supervision of contractors, UT Austin departments and Dell Medical School employees and leading the effort in conjunction with UT Austin Departments, contractors and Dell Medical School employees to produce monthly reports of facility operation, maintenance, repair, utility and other costs. Manage the development and implementation of campus master planning efforts and individual strategic planning efforts for Dell Medical School and its educational, research, clinical and other space needs. Coordinate with UT Austin in defining the scope, budget and schedule for major capital projects. Ensure capital projects are consistent with the Campus Master Plan and are appropriately integrated with other UT Austin institutional planning efforts. Serve as a member of and assist a variety of committees at Dell Medical School, UT Austin and UT System. Serve as lead representative for the Campus Planning unit in various recurring project technical and financial meetings and in special management initiatives. Regularly track and report project financials, escalating appropriate operational decisions within the Dell Medical School leadership team as needed. Oversee the preparation of various capital project reports for Dell Medical School, the University, System and other governmental and non-governmental entities. Provide administrative direction for a team of professionals and support staff, including oversight of the unit's operating budget, approving charges against accounts, conducting performance evaluations, making project assignments, and establishing and maintaining office procedural standards.

Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, architecture, or business. 10 or more years of experience in leadership/ management of complex projects and initiatives including space planning, real estate, and/or facility construction with enterprise-wide impact. Experience in campus planning in academic medicine and higher education. Experience managing facilities, operations, and equipment of an academic research, biomedical, or hospital building or campus. Supervisory, budgetary, and procurement experience. Ability to coordinate and manage multiple activities, analyze diverse situations and recommend appropriate actions. Reliable and able to handle difficult and sometimes emergency situations. Must display a high level of initiative, customer service, and problem solving skills. Must be comfortable working with a diverse client base and handle confidential and sensitive issues. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master's degree in an appropriate field, and more than 15 years of experience in leadership/management of complex projects and initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
