Norristown Area School District (NASD) is seeking an exceptional educational leader to be its next assistant superintendent of schools. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong leadership in proactive decision-making and consensus building. The candidate must have the ability to lead and direct multiple tasks. Experience in special education management is highly desirable. Experience working with diverse student populations and environments preferred, experience creating and implementing successful multi-tier approaches for instructional and behavioral interventions preferred, experience implementing PDE initiatives preferred.
The Norristown Area School District is a moderately large, suburban, public school district located northwest of Philadelphia in the county seat of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The school district serves a wonderfully diverse population of students and families in the Norristown Borough, East Norriton and West Norriton townships.
The School District has an enrollment of approximately 7000 students who are supported by approximately 1,000 employees. The District operates eleven schools – one kindergarten center, five elementary schools, three middle schools, one smaller alternative high school and one comprehensive high school.
The NASD is offering a multi-year contract that features a regionally competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates must possess, or be eligible for, a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility. Doctorate preferred. Review of applications will begin on or about August 1, 2018.

The Chester County Intermediate Unit provides services to the 12 school districts in Chester County. This includes services to nearly 86,000 public and non-public school students and over 6,000 educators. CCIU's major services include: special education and compensatory education programs; career, technical and customized education; mentor training and staff development; technology initiatives; consortia for school business operations; and curriculum services.
The Chester County Intermediate Unit is one of 29 regional educational agencies established by law in Pennsylvania in 1971. Working between the Pennsylvania State Department of Education and the local school districts, the intermediate unit's mission is to provide services that can be offered most economically at the regional level.
