The School of Art + Design at Ohio University invites applications for an hourly administrative position as Recruitment and Retention Liaison, beginning August 24, 2018 and lasting for a term of 12 months. We seek a candidate(s) with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
This position will assist the School of Art +Design, by training and sustaining a large cohort of student workers who function to support the critical areas of School of Art +Design recruitment and retention efforts. This position will also work closely with School leadership to develop efficient strategies for maintaining and managing this student cohort in the short and long-term. Additionally, it will serve as a point of contact and interim Advisor for incoming Freshmen students prior to the start of their first semester.
The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of each of the degree programs and areas of concentration within the School as well as a thorough knowledge of the courses offered, ongoing events, exhibitions, and recruitment opportunities within the School of Art + Design. The successful candidate must also have a thorough knowledge of recruitment and retention strategies for the School of Art + Design, and must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, high levels of organization and follow-through, skill sets in event management, expertise in social media management and experience with classroom technology, and technology used in developing recruitment strategies.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate(s) will be hired to work 10 hours a week. They will recruit, train and supervise the School of Art + Design's undergraduate recruitment ambassadors, undergraduate and graduate work-study positions, and recruitment-assigned graduate TA's for School-wide recruitment and retention efforts. This includes job content shaping for individual students, training & scheduling ambassadors to give tours and information sessions for prospective students and parents, training ambassadors and TA's for social media and other advertising media maintenance, and training ambassadors and TA's for leadership roles in the School of Art + Design. Duties will also include working with COFA Operations Coordinator and School of Art + Design leadership to design and to implement structures to sustain long-term recruiting, training and supervision of School ambassadors, School work-study, and of School recruitment-assigned graduate TA's.
Lastly, duties include interim advising for incoming Freshmen students between the time of their Bobcat Student Orientation and the start of their first semester of study.
MA or MFA degree from the School of Art + Design; experience in recruitment and retention efforts within the context of higher education and arts programs.
MA or MFA degree from the School of Art + Design; demonstrated success with recruitment and/or retention efforts at Ohio University; knowledge of social media management; experience with trouble-shooting classroom technology; experience with developing new and effective recruitment strategies. Experience with advising students.
