Waldron Mercy Academy is seeking a full-time Teacher-Librarian who is a passionate educator, lifelong learner, and a collaborative partner with classroom teachers, staff, and administrators. This candidate will also provide vision and leadership for the library program and its facilities.
Provide leadership and expertise to ensure that the library program is aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the school and is an integral component of the instructional program.
Foster an environment that encourages student and faculty usage of the library and that promotes lifelong learning, intellectual curiosity, and the ethical use of digital resources.
Review, select, order, and maintain books, media, and databases that meet curricular needs and enhance teaching and learning.
Collaborate as a tech team member to review, implement and update the library, research, and digital citizenship curricula to ensure that they include a full range of current literacy skills (information, media, visual, and digital).
Teach “Citizens” classes in grades 4-8.
Collaborate with students and teachers in research projects in grades K-8 using the Super3 and Big6 research processes.
Teach third-grade library skills class.
Oversee the library budget.
Maintain the library website.
Supervise the library assistant and parent volunteers.
Plan and organize the annual book fair.
Arrange for author visits and end-of-year book talks for students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in library science, information studies, or a similar field strongly preferred.
A minimum of three years teaching experience.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
