*Greet and assist students, faculty, staff and community members. *Answer and direct incoming telephone calls and emails. *Assist faculty with special projects, including organizing meetings, events, and mailings; assist with registration and budget matters, and field inquiries. *Assist graduate candidates with course registration, and assist program directors by using Banner to adjust course section size, and move students among sections to ensure equality of class size. Open seats in various courses with program directors' permission. Check wait lists and print class lists for program directors. *Hire, train and supervise work study students to complete faculty and staff work requests. *Assist in gathering, typing, editing and distributing School of Education materials (brochures, PowerPoints, handbooks, etc.). *Order office supplies and maintain office area(s). Provide back-up support for the Dean in the absence of the Assistant to the Dean; take meeting minutes. *Assist with the administrative tasks related to annual Kappa Delta Pi Initiation Ceremonies *Assist with accreditation and other tasks as directed by the Dean
Serve as New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification Officer for the School of Education's undergraduate and graduate teacher candidates, maintaining continuous troubleshooting contact with NYSED/Albany, identifying problems and resolving issues for SoE candidates. *Confirm graduation status with Registrar's office for each candidate. *Access NYSED website and enter candidates' multiple certification recommendations using appropriate program codes. *Notify students of their recommendation(s). *Contact students who have not established NYSEDTEACH accounts and guide them through the process. *Communicate regularly with NYSED representative regarding SJFC teacher candidate issues as well as with candidates to resolve issues. *Prepare and update New York State teacher certification information packet for current teacher candidates, which includes instructions on how to apply for NYS certification, appropriate program codes, fingerprinting information, useful links, and contact information. *Develop and maintain New York State teacher certification information on the School of Education website. *Personally assist (one-on-one) teacher candidates with all aspects of the teacher certification process, from applying to maintaining NYS certification. In addition – assist former students/alumni with on-going certification questions regarding the maintenance and ever-changing requirements of their teacher certification. *Generate forms – each semester – for those seeking NYS certification, and compile database from which certification
