The Pingry School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging Upper SchoolFinancial Literacy teacher to join a diverse academic community. The ideal candidate is committed to guiding young people as they construct their understanding of finance in a student-centered classroom environment. With robust interpersonal skills, the selected candidate has a real desire to contribute to the school community by sharing their passions and through additional efforts such as advising students, coaching teams, directing clubs, or supervising activities.
The successful candidate would be responsible for teaching a financial literacy class, covering classes as a substitute as needed, serving as community liaison for our credit union team, advising our entrepreneurship and business clubs, and coaching Middle School and Upper School athletic teams across three seasons.
Required qualifications include: bachelor’s degree (ideally in business or economics), knowledge of disciplinary core ideas, experience teaching finance, fluency with financial analysis and management, strong background in real-life experiences and place-based learning opportunities, capacity to incorporate independent and cooperative group learning experiences during the study of financial markets and decision making, dedication to integrating global and ethical issues with the study of modern business, enthusiasm for developing students’ personal finance acumen, and commitment to working cooperatively with other faculty to maintain a strong program. In addition to honor and character, zest for intellectual engagement, and appreciation for stewardship and sustainability, especially important is the candidate’s ease with diverse constituencies and demonstrated commitment to an inclusive school community.

Founded in 1861, The Pingry School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Situated on two spacious campuses in Basking Ridge and Short Hills, New Jersey, the school draws students of varied talents and diverse backgrounds from over 100 communities in the central New Jersey region.
