Francis Scott Key Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia is seeking two Spanish Immersion Classroom Teachers. Candidates must have
Ability to establish strong academic and linguistic programs for all students that meet or exceed curricular expectations and SOLs.
Willingness to engage in extensive professional development and apply to current practice.
Knowledge of SIOP practices preferred.
Proven ability to work as part of a team in providing a strong instructional program, including shared planning, assessment, and delivery of instruction.
Ability to interact and communicate with students, colleagues, parents, and community members in a positive, respectful and professional manner.
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
Spanish ability required.
Must be able to teach Spanish Language Arts with a balanced literacy approach, including guided reading, Word Study, writing, and development of strong oral language.
Should have a strong interest in Social Studies and knowledge of second language acquisition.
Successful experience using a variety of assessment tools and data to monitor individual student progress and plan differentiated instruction.
Successful experience working with a diverse student population and has a thorough understanding of the cultural and language needs for students in an immersion school.
