Hillside School, a Junior Boarding School serving grades 5-9, is seeking an enthusiastic History teacher with strong academic background and passion for teaching middle school students.The ideal candidate is able to tailor instruction to help students develop interest and excitement for the subject matter and to differentiate instruction based on individual needs to help every student achieve academic success.
This candidate should have experience with teaching United States History to all levels of learners.In addition, the candidate should be able to teach reading comprehension of historical materials and teach students to improve their writing through historical prompts.Other desired qualifications include being a team player, a sense of humor, a creative and positive approach to teaching, and the knowledge of and desire to use iPads in the classroom.
Qualified candidates should be willing to teach a full schedule (16-20 periods per week), covering evening study hall periods and being on-call for absent teachers, and embracing boarding school life (weekly dorm duty, coaching two seasons, weekend responsibilities).
