The Graduate Program Manager (GPM) will communicate with faculty and administrators to assist in implementing strategies and interventions aimed at enhancing the recruitment of prospective students and the retention/graduation of enrolled students. The individual will work with Program Directors to aggregate data, assess needs, and design/deliver programs that enhance the academic experiences of students outside of the classroom to improve retention and completion. The Graduate Program Manager will support the graduate programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. These programs anticipate enrollment of both part-time and full-time students with classes meeting both during the day and in the evenings, on campus, and the Center City Building, and at locations with community partners. The Graduate Program Manager (GPM), in collaboration with College and Graduate School leadership, provides vision and leadership to support the recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts of graduate programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and cross-college interdisciplinary programs jointly supported by multiple colleges. The individual serves a vital role in graduate education at UNC Charlotte and works collaboratively with Graduate Program Directors (GPDs) to ensure enrollment targets and goals are achieved. The individual is responsible for designing and executing specific strategies for marketing, recruitment, admissions, and enrollment management. The GPM will assist the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education with the management of the graduate programs in the College and the coordination, planning, and assessment of activities and procedures. The Manager will work with student data to evaluate the performance of academic programs and as such would have access to personal and confidential information. The Manger is expected to exercise judgment in maintaining the confidentiality of these discussions based on established policies by the Graduate School and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The individual will apply excellent judgement along with knowledge of College and University policies during discussions with students, prospective students and the business/industry/educational community.
Minimum Experience / Education:
The Graduate Program Manager (GPM) position requires a Master's degree, preferably in higher education, adult education, college student development, counseling, marketing, or a related field.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
At least two years of work experience in the administration or direct support of credit-based education programs, preferably within the context of a graduate-level institution of higher education. The positions require excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills; exceptionally strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The individual must possess a strong service orientation and the ability to exercise good judgement in the handling of many sensitive and confidential matters. Applicants must have experience using a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and Web/Internet applications; marketing; and budgeting. Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of higher education marketing, contemporary models for (graduate) education, including the delivery support services to students whether provided on campus or online; student recruitment and enrollment management and strong assessment skills.
