Responsible for the over-all administration and supervision of activities and functions relating to the construction, operation and maintenance of the South Columbus Water Resource Facility and the South Commons and Uptown Park CSO Facilities. Supervisory responsibility is exercised over skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled and technical personnel. Emphasis is on planning and coordinating work efforts. The employee is guided by CWW policies and the SVP of Water Resource Operations, but exercises independent judgement in the routine operation of the facilities. The Superintendent also oversees the CSO and Biosolids Programs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, the Superintendent must have a comprehensive knowledge of equipment, treatment processes and operation and maintenance practices of modern wastewater treatment facilities; comprehensive knowledge of the chemical, physical and biological processes involved in the treatment of wastewater and stormwater. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Engineering or Environmental Science is preferred. A minimum of nine (9) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and seven (7) years of wastewater treatment plant supervision and/or management experience required. Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Possession of a Class "I" Wastewater Operator's certificate issued by the Georgia State Board of Examiners required. Thorough knowledge of computers and SCADA systems required. Use of wastewater treatment plant process control software preferred. Use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record required.
