• Coordinate Out-of-School (Before, After, and Saturday) programs, school day services and parent activities at Fort Dearborn Elementary School as required to meet the guidelines of the Sustainable Community School grant. • Facilitate communication and coordination between program providers, school personnel and families. • Maintain an extensive knowledge of the surrounding school community and city-wide resources, current trends in the fields of family support, education and community schools. • Represent the Sustainable Community School partnership to funding entities and the community. • Coordinate outreach and recruitment efforts for participants eligible for program services. Collect referrals from teachers and parents, as needed • Responsible for all required Sustainable Community School reports, documentation by funders and Family Focus (i.e. quarterly reports, data system, regular and special reports, and teacher, parent, and student survey collection). • Familiarity with CitySpan data entry is a plus!! • Ensure the principles of SCS are incorporated throughout program services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Advocate for families when needed and act as a liaison for parents, schools and referral agencies. • Plan and coordinate SCS School Leadership Team Committee meetings for all school stakeholders. • Ensure that all guidelines and regulations pertaining to projects are adhered to. • Serve as a resource to network agencies and schools. • Responsible for coordinating and implementing evaluation activities for the project. • Be knowledgeable about community resources. • Attend all required trainings, staff meetings, and workshops related to the SCS grant and Family Focus. • Represent Family Focus/SCS Team at LSC, PAC and other school based or community based meetings. • Hire contracted staff and provide day-to-day supervision of site based staff, contractors and parent stipend workers; ensuring that program staff are delivering high quality activities and services. • Assist the Program Manager in ensuring programs are meeting funders’ objectives and are a reflection of Family Support Principles. • Assist the Program Manager in identifying other resources (in-kind donations, partnerships with other organizations, funding, etc) for the sustainability of the program. • Plan and implement Family Night, parental involvement activities, community celebrations, and student showcases. • Maintain up-to-date CitySpan data entry for school related activities (i.e. Daily attendance) • Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Masters Degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or related field with a minimum of three years’ experience working with youth and case management expertise. • Two years working with a Community School Initiative grant or as a Resource Coordinator highly preferred. • Excellent written and oral communication and research skills. • Knowledge of implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs. • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively and pleasantly with others. • Experience in forging long-term partnerships with other service providers. • Strong teamwork and leadership skills. • Ability to think critically, creatively and strategically to promote quality programming and growth. • Understanding of Common Core Standards and experience providing educational enrichment services to youth. • Excellent computer skills – word processing, internet research, spreadsheets, create outreach materials; make posters, newsletters, etc. • Travel within the community will be required. • Submit to and clear a drug and Chicago Public School background check. • Complete and submit an updated TB test. • The ability to work evenings and Saturday mornings, as required.
