Reporting to the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Programs and working collaboratively with the entire Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Programs team, as well as with other university faculty and staff, the Leadership Giving Officer is a key member of The New School's frontline fundraising effort. S/he is responsible for leading The New School's leadership giving society, the President's Circle, and engaging, qualifying, and soliciting prospects who can give unrestricted leadership gifts ($1,000+) annually. S/he will play a key role in securing donations from parents, alumni, and friends will also work closely with Stewardship, Research, and Special Events.
Manage a prospect portfolio of 75 alumni, parents, and friends to secure leadership gifts ($1,000+) through in-person solicitation Meet with 150 prospects annually to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts Develop and execute the strategy for the President's Circle and securing leadership annual fund gifts with a particular focus on New School parents. Lead the planning and execution of cultivation and solicitation events associated with the President's Circle Set Annual Fund leadership giving goals and identify benchmarks for measuring progress Oversee the Annual Giving team in drafting President's Circle letters, proposals, reports, and other text as needed Work with academic partners to engage high-level donors in the mission of the university and discuss specific educational priorities Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree Three to five years of experience working in frontline fundraising and event management, preferably at a university or cultural institution Experience building relationships and soliciting gifts from individuals Highly motivated with the ability to meet aggressive annual fundraising goals Strong written and verbal communication skills An entrepreneurial disposition and the ability to prioritize tasks A strong work ethic and integrity A collaborative team player
