Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Undergraduate Recruiting Manager (URM) is responsible for creating, organizing and implementing frontline actions and activities designed to attract high-quality students to the School of Business. The URM is also charged with shaping admissions goals, strategies and tactics as well as developing efficient recruitment processes within the School.
As such, the URM plays a collaborative role along with the Associate Dean, the Dean, the School's Marketing Communications Group (MARCOM) and the University's Enrollment Management Group (EMG) in the formulation of enrollment goals, marketing, recruitment, and communication strategies for undergraduate programs.
Activities include the following: attracting new students by maintaining working relationships with high schools and guidance counselors, maintain the continual flow of quality applicants and transfers by analyzing trends in enrollment and marketing activities; leading activities to continue program enrollment; presenting new strategies and tactics for recruitment and enrollment activities.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
In consultation with the Associate Dean, Dean, EMG, and MARCOM, to help develop, articulate, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive strategic enrollment/recruitment plan that addresses program targets, university-wide enrollment goals, and financial planning by employing data analysis, evaluating enrollment trends, and assessing recruitment activities.
Performs and communicate results of analyses requested by School leadership; provide monthly updates regarding strategies and tracking enrollment quotas to the Associate Dean.
Assists with planning and implementing special events, such as Duquesne Fest, Open House, Preview Day, as well as individual and group meetings with prospective students.
Acts as a liaison to EMG and other University departments and internal offices within the School as needed.
Represents the School at recruitment events and meetings.
Develops and implement a plan for cultivating and maintaining relationships with personnel representing high schools and colleges that serve as potential feeder schools, as well as with other external constituencies.
Help develop and implement a system for tracking and quantifying the impact of recruiting efforts in conjunction with School leadership and EMG.
Works with the School's MARCOM office to develop annual marketing plans and recruitment materials for all programs.
Works with MARCOM to ensure that undergraduate program web pages are current and achieving desired results.
Manages inquiries and serve as the primary representative in the admission cycle, including email and telephone inquiries, applications, and walk-in visits.
Oversees and conduct follow-up communication with prospective students to ensure successful enrollment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
Work requires a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), from an accredited institution along with a minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in higher education student recruitment, enrollment management admissions and/or marketing to prospective students or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Knowledgeable about recruitment and enrollment principles.
Strong integrity, absolute discretion and respectful of all constituencies.
Willing to embrace the mission and values of the School of Business and Duquesne University.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills-can effectively coordinate and implement recruitment sessions, college fairs, and other student activities.
Able to work effectively with diverse constituencies (e.g., students, teachers, professors, parents, guidance counselors, School administrators).
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other common database programs.
Willing and able to travel with some frequency (mainly in the region) as well as work nights and weekends as needed.
Possesses a valid driver's license and passport.
An MBA or a master's degree in a business-related field.
3-5 years of experience in higher education student recruitment, enrollment management and/or marketing to prospective students.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic recruitment plans.
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
