The Agnes Irwin School seeks an experienced, dynamic, and creative Middle & Upper School English Long-Term Substitute Teacher (Half-time increasing to Full-time) beginning January 7, 2019, and ending June 7, 2019. • The job will begin in January at 50% with two 9th grade English classes. In February, the job will change to full-time, adding a section of 7th Grade English and a section of 8th Grade Honors English. • Candidates should be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment with colleagues who value collaboration as well as independence, and be willing to take on a few duties in addition to teaching (e.g. study hall). • Candidates must have a proven record of engaging students in class discussions, organizing and managing a classroom in an effective and safe manner, fostering critical reading and writing skills, and inspiring a love of learning.
Successful applicants must possess: • Minimum of three years’ teaching experience preferred • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, English preferred • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Proficiency with the use of computer technology relevant to the classroom
