Georgetown Day School, an independent, co-ed day school in Washington, D.C. seeks a High School Chemistry (and possibly Astronomy) teacher for a long-term substituting position as soon as possible. Primary job responsibilities include teaching 2-3 sections of Introductory Chemistry for a 5 week term with the expectation that they will present content and assess students in coordination with other team teachers. Rich content, creative pedagogy and authentic relationships are essential components of a GDS classroom. Providing those elements, working collaboratively with colleagues, and placing the students’ interests and experiences at the heart of the classroom are essential to this position. As a diverse, inclusive school devoted to preparing our students to live and work in an increasingly globalized and multicultural society, GDS is particularly interested in professionals with demonstrated interest and experience in working in such a school setting.
Qualifications: a B.S. in Chemistry or a related field is required. A Master’s degree, three years or more of teaching experience are preferred.
