Classroom responsibilities for this full-time school year position include teaching six periods of French, levels I – IV. Students at each level of study should have regular and challenging practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking French. Responsibilities include teaching six instructional courses and proctoring a study hall. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to teach at an independent residential school. MCI may be able to provide on-campus housing in our residence halls and meals in our dining hall for a candidate interested in serving as a dorm supervisor. Each faculty member is expected to contribute to the co-curricular environment at MCI. The start date for this position is immediately.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Demonstrate a variety of instructional methods that include the use of visual aids, interactive activities, technology in the classroom, and other academic tools to improve overall reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension of the students.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Bachelor’s degree or higher in French language and literature or a related field required; a master’s degree is preferred
Relevant high school teaching experience is required
Proficiency using technology in the classroom; experience with a 1:1 program a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, parents, peers, and supervisors
Proficiency in the use of data to assess student progress and inform instruction
