JOB SUMMARY:Â Provide academic curriculum to patients during their hospitalization by first completing an assessment to assess the learning needs and styles of each patient. Provide classroom instruction in a group setting while simultaneously maintaining a structured classroom setting focused on safety and security.Â Development of a 2-week curriculum while instilling a creative, energetic and engaging style of learning.Â Development of individualized interventions for patients, who are struggling to function in a classroom setting.Â Complete and maintain records for each patient, including attendance and contacts to their schools.Â Communicate with interdisciplinary treatment team including but not limited to the psychiatrist, nurse, social worker and expressive therapist.Â Â Â

Education:Â Â Â Â Bachelorâ€™s Degree required, Masters preferred.
Experience:Â Â One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred.
Licensure/Certification:Â Valid Illinois teaching certificate; certification in Special Education preferred.
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population.Â Individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships, crisis intervention and behavior management are strongly needed.Â Must have basic knowledge of growth and age development milestones, basic understanding of psychiatric and behavioral diagnosis is essential.
