AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to closing the opportunity, expectations, and achievement gaps in education by partnering with schools all over the country to prepare students for college, careers, and life.
AVID Center is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced, and motivating leader to serve as the Senior Director, Professional Learning and Events.
The Mission: Shape the learning experiences that inspire and mobilize educators to close the opportunity, expectations, and achievement gaps with students.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in education and/or AVID and will leverage that knowledge to create the vision for the departments, which will drive all initiatives to expand AVID’s reach into both face-to-face and online professional learning platforms.

Someone who easily transitions from big-picture to day-to-day needs and is not afraid to get their hands dirty
So far in 2018, more than 70,000 educators have attended professional learning events, which translates to 2 million students supported. AVID Center strives to continue to grow those numbers, and the Senior Director, Professional Learning and Events will have a direct impact to make that happen.
Bachelor’s degree in education, management, curriculum, digital learning, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in public education (teaching and/or administration)
Minimum of 5 years of organizational leadership experience
A strong record of increasingly responsible leadership experiences in education, administration, or organizational management
Experience working as a curriculum, program, eLearning, or professional learning leader and managing multiple teams, large-scale projects, and budgets
Master’s degree or higher
Successful experience as an educational leader at both the school site and district-level
Successful experience with planning/managing large events in multiple venues
Successful experience working in complex and diverse school systems
Multi-state leadership experiences
