The Phelps School seeks an instructor for its upper school classes in Health and Physical Education. The courses are taken primarily by freshmen and sophomores. In addition, as needed, the Health Instructor may offer elective courses in his or her area of interest and expertise, such as Introduction to Sports Medicine, Human Anatomy, or Advanced Fitness and Training.
Teachers at Phelps serve as advisors to as many as five students and are fully involved in co-curricular programs as coaches, activity sponsors, weekend trip chaperones, and community service project supervisors. Some reside on campus in faculty housing and serve as dorm parents (supervisors). They are dynamic men and women dedicated to helping each boy become a better man – in and out of the classroom. They enjoy working with students in relatively small classes and engaging collaboratively in curriculum design and constant professional improvement. They strive to integrate technology into their teaching and to help improve students’ creativity and critical thinking skills.
