Hagerstown Community College is pleased to announce that applications are currently being accepted for an Afternoon Teacher - Children's Learning Center position.
The Afternoon Teacher in the Children's Learning Center is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team and is responsible for closing the center at the end of the day.
This is a part-time position, available for 22.5 hours per week.
Education and experience - Minimum of twelve semester hours in child development and activities for early childhood, a Child Development Associate credential, or six semester hours (or the 90 Clock Hour Course) and enrolled in an AA degree program in early childhood or elementary education; minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in a structured early childhood program. Thorough knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate curriculum and positive guidance techniques. Must meet and maintain all qualifications as specified for Preschool Teachers by MSDE Office of Child Care.
Skills and abilities - Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, children and parents; demonstrates effective and appropriate classroom management and positive guidance techniques, ability to effectively hear, observe and respond to children's needs, emergencies and/or conflicts; willingness and ability to complete additional training as required.
