Hawaii Preparatory Academy is seeking a Middle School Principal beginning July 1, 2019. The Middle School Principal works collaboratively with the Lower School Principal to provide leadership for the Village Campus. The Middle School Principal also works collaboratively with the K-12 Assistant Head of School for Academics to align K-12 curriculum and K-12 Faculty Development in conjunction with HPA’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics. The Middle School Principal oversees the day-to-day operation of the Middle School, which consists of approximately 97 students in grades 6 through 8, and 20 faculty members.
Applicants should have an advanced degree, with classroom and administrative experience. It is important that candidates have strong leadership, organizational, communication, curriculum development/implementation, and team-building skills. This position requires strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, in addition to the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administration, and parents. A strong affinity for supporting all elements of the Middle School student experience is essential.
Hawai`i Preparatory Academy, founded in 1949, is an independent coeducational school providing a full range of opportunities for students from kindergarten through grade 12. Our boarding program admits students in grades 9 through 12.
The school has two campuses in the town of Waimea (Kamuela) on the island of Hawai`i. The Lower and Middle Schools are located on nine acres in the heart of Hawai`i's ranching country, while the Upper School is located just two miles away on a 200-acre campus at the foot of the Kohala Mountains.
