The Phelps School has an immediate opening for a teacher of Computer Science. Currently, students follow web-based curricula offering introductory programming as well as AP courses. The Computer Science teacher may also work with the Vex Robotics team.
Teachers at Phelps serve as advisors to as many as five students and are fully involved in co-curricular programs as coaches, activity sponsors, weekend trip chaperones, and community service project supervisors. Some reside on campus in faculty housing and serve as dorm parents (supervisors). They are dynamic men and women dedicated to helping each boy become a better man – in and out of the classroom. They enjoy working with students in relatively small classes and engaging collaboratively in curriculum design and constant professional improvement. They strive to integrate technology into their teaching and to help improve students’ creativity and critical thinking skills.
Teachers willing to help with evening dorm supervision reside in apartments on campus free of charge. Utilities and meals in the dining hall are also included, a significant benefit. (The computer science teacher may reside off campus or in housing provided.)
Required: Bachelor's degree; Pennsylvania Teaching Certification or sufficient coursework to obtain PA Private Academic Certification
