Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School is accepting applications for the 2019/2020 school year for the position of 12 month full-time Assistant Principal of Student Life and Discipline. Under the direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal works to provide formation for students by establishing policies built on strong relationships and the Catholic faith. The Assistant Principal of Student life leads the extra-curricular planning for activities that are not directly under Athletics, assuring that the activities support and enhance the mission of the school.
Advanced Degree in Educational Administration Three or more years of administrative or other relevant experience preferred Experience working in secondary education preferred Must be practicing Catholic Minimum five years teaching experience Hold appropriate Virginia Administration and Supervision Certification or be eligible to obtain this certification within three years of hire
Supervises student discipline and maintains disciplinary records Supervises student attendance Supervises students in school and community settings, ensuring their safety and decorum. Assigns and oversees student lockers, auditorium and gym seating Develops and maintains student handbook Works with Guidance Department on issues relative to student problems (including attendance) Plans, schedules and coordinates activities to engage students in the school community Oversight of school activities; providing supervision and coordination as needed to club moderators Communicates school activities to parents and students Establishes procedures and policies for before and after school monitoring of students and student supervision Works with Director of Athletics on Calendar planning for the school Plans and communicates student life assemblies Oversight to faculty duties including: cafeteria, hall monitoring, before and after school, parking lot Works with students, faculty members and parents regarding student behavior plans Coordinates the "Administrator on Duty" responsibilities and serves in this capacity at campus events Maintains guidelines and conducts programs related to the health, safety and security of students, faculty and staff. Assists the Assistant Principal of Academics with new teacher orientation and professional development planning.
