The White Mountain School seeks a passionate, full-time mathematics teacher to begin duties on August 12, 2019.
Founded in 1886, The White Mountain School is a boarding school (grades 9-12) located in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our mission statement reads: "We are a school of inquiry and engagement. Grounded in our Episcopal heritage, we prepare and inspire students to lead lives of curiosity, courage and compassion." We believe this is an incredibly exciting time in education, and we take seriously the idea that education for the future must be about more than memorization and recall; it must be about student-driven inquiry and true engagement with our intellectual heritage.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in mathematics and be able to teach courses from Algebra through Calculus. The ability to also teach computer science is helpful, though not required. Other responsibilities include those typical of a boarding school job: dormitory residence and supervision, serving as an advisor to students, and coaching two seasons. A candidate must be passionate about working with students in and out of the classroom, have a sense of humor, and fully embrace the active lifestyle of a boarding school.
Candidates should send cover letter and resume via email to Jessica Willis, Assistant to the Head of School (email@example.com).
About The White Mountain School
The White Mountain School
Set among the beautiful mountains of northern New Hampshire, The White Mountain School is a college preparatory boarding and day school of 135 students in grades 9-12. Since our founding in 1886, we have remained true to the original focus of New England boarding schools: the development of mind, body and spirit. We develop the mind through our college preparatory curriculum and through a campus-wide ethos of inquiry and engagement in learning. We develop the body through sports and other physical activities, making full use of our spectacular natural setting. We develop the spirit through reflection, exploration of meaning and purpose, and service in the broader world.
