The assistant principal (AP) holds a unique position in the school's administration. St Anthony of Padua School in Falls Church, VA, is seeking to hire an AP immediately who is a self-starter and team player focused on student success. The AP will critically assist in creating an environment that reflects Catholic identity through which the presence of Christ is encountered. He/she will provide leadership in the development of educational programs and implementing a curriculum providing for diverse abilities, needs and interests of students and offering reasonable accommodations as required while utilizing data to promote innovation, improve instructional learning and performance, and to set goals for future achievement.
Qualifications: The AP must be present and accessible to students while upholding rules and regulations, as well as able to operate in dynamic and fluctuating situations and circumstances, to plan, organize and execute instructional and operational support activities. The AP must be an effective written and oral communicator, synthesize information, develop recommendations for timely and effective solutions, possess strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, demonstrate and have sound judgment and exceptional critical thinking skills, as well as administrative and organizational skills. Strongly desire and prefer both bi-lingual (English and Spanish) with an early childhood development background.
Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church (i.e., able to receive the Sacraments and, if married, in a valid Church marriage.)
Be deeply committed to the development of the faith life of the teachers and students and dedicated to the ministry of Catholic education.
Have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a Catholic school. Such experience should be sufficiently broad to provide an understanding of the Prek-8 school.
Have a Master's Degree in School Administration from an accredited university approved by the State of Virginia or a Master's Degree in another academic area and completion of the following graduate courses: School Law, Evaluation of Instruction and Curriculum, Special Education, School Finance and Educational Leadership from a state-approved program and successful completion of the School Leadership Assessment (SLA). The courses and assessment must be completed within three years of being hired.
Hold appropriate Virginia Administration and Supervision Certification or be eligible to obtain this certification within three years of hire.
Hold Basic Diocesan Religion Certification or be eligible to obtain this certification within three years of hire.
