The RPSEC at USC Aiken is seeking a dynamic educational leader to serve as the Director of Student Programs (DSP). The DSP will work with the RPSEC team to develop engaging student programs and deliver quality classroom instruction for K-12 students, teachers and the general public. The DSP will prepare lesson plans and instructional materials, develop curricula to meet specific requirements of students, schedule and manage RPSEC student programs, supervise animal care efforts at the RPSEC, work on grant-related activities, and teach a variety of programs offered through the RPSEC. Requires flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
The motto of the RPSEC is “Infusing a Love for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.” The RPSEC is a cooperative effort by the University of South Carolina Aiken, local industry, and public school districts in the Central Savannah River Area. The purpose of this effort is to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the elementary, middle and high schools of the area. Its hands-on approach to teaching is designed to help people experience the beauty, the order and the power of science and mathematics, as well as the interest and fun of discovery. A visit to the RPSEC enables students, teachers and the public to experience science and mathematics in a challenging yet exciting way.
