Milton Academy is seeking a full-time science teacher with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community. The position begins in September 2019.
The teacher will teach three or four classes in biology and/or chemistry and will be expected to engage with students beyond the classroom. A graduate degree in life, biochemical or biophysical sciences and a minimum of five years teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level is preferred, as is experience in research and inquiry-based practices. A familiarity with both differentiated instruction and inclusive pedagogy is also desired. A commitment to bridging students’ classroom experiences with opportunities for real-world application is essential. The ideal candidate will be eager to contribute to an academically vibrant community. Teacher certification is not required.
All teachers advise 6-8 students. Teachers are also expected to advise a student activity or coach a team or intramural sport, in addition to other responsibilities. Faculty members residing on campus typically live and work in a dormitory and all teachers living on campus have responsibilities in the residential program.
