Design innovative lesson plans according to curricular requirements and in collaboration with curriculum specialists and program staff to create a shared curriculum
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Arrange performance opportunities for your student, such as concerts for friends and relatives.
Prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions and festivals.
Expand your own musical experience by familiarizing yourself with the music your students listen to, learning another instrument, becoming familiar with other musical styles and developing your improvisation or vocal skills.
Support students in their use of music technology by keeping up to date with major software tools and making use of recording and other technology.
Evaluate academic and social growth of students by keeping appropriate records via online management systems.
Communicate with parents and school administrators on student progress.
Follow and comply with ethical teaching standards and safety regulations.
Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:
Background in piano with Master’s degree in musical performance or music education and at least 1 year of experience in primary school education or at an academic or community music school environment. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in primary school education or at an academic or community music school environment may also apply.
Knowledge of brass or wind instruments advantageous.
Solid expertise in teaching young learners with a range of abilities.
