Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Instructional Course Designer for the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. This position provides direction to faculty and coordinates the School's programs in inter-professional education, co-curricular experiences, and portfolio/professional development activities. This position works with faculty and School leadership in the identification of critical skills, design and implementation of instructional strategies for success, and assessment of professional development through the School's expanding interprofessional (IPE) programs, co-curricular activities, and portfolio requirements.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides guidance to faculty and oversees the assessment of approximately 30 portfolio reflections for each student in the PharmD program
Works with faculty to develop and evaluate rubrics for formative and summative evaluations of portfolio submissions
Ensures that reflections incorporate Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and map to Ability Based Outcomes (ABOs) – both required by the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education.
Designs and implements educational strategies to develop and assess interprofessional programs
Uses independent judgment regarding program development, collaboration with other units within Rutgers, logistics, and evaluation of programs.
Ensures that IPE programs provide students with deeper understanding of other health professions and the role of teamwork, communications skills, and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree, in adult education and training, education, communications or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and skill in adult learning theory.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience in educational administration or related fields.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior experience in Instructional design and/or course implementation for adult learners.
Strong verbal and written communications
Excellent organization, coordination, and facilitation of projects.
Computer literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Master's in education or related field.
Experience in healthcare education/training, experience in university teaching or program development.
Must be proficient in basic business office software and familiar with instructional technology tools.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Will occasionally work evenings to support educational programs.
This position is part time thus hours will be less than 20 per week and salary will be prorated.
