Annie Wright is seeking an Innovation, Art & Design Teacher in the Upper School for Boys to begin on August 19, 2019. This is a full-time position.

Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
Annie Wright opened the Upper School for Boys in Fall 2017, and for the 2019-2020 academic year, we will open our third class of USB students and anticipate the completion of a new academic building (including a new design lab/makerspace) for the division. As the school grows, the team of faculty, administrators, and students are working closely to develop a rigorous program, a caring environment, implementation of best practices for boys’ learning. The Upper School for Boys Innovation, Design & Art (IDeA) Teacher:
Teaches Design and Art courses in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework, including Design courses in Grades 9 & 10;
Works closely with colleagues to develop the Design and Art program for the Upper School for Boys and to align the Design and Art programs, as well as to implement the curriculum using best practices in teaching, student-centered instruction, and relevant educational technologies;
Manages the USB Idea/Maker Lab and collaborates with colleagues to integrate the lab throughout the program;
Coordinates the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Creativity-Activity-Service (CAS) program and moderates a student (s)Elective after school;
And fulfills all faculty duties, especially good communication with families about student progress.
The USB IDeA Teacher may also elect to apply for an additional position as a dorm parent, which includes night and evening responsibilities with full room and board.
The USB IDeA Teacher:
Holds a BA in Design, Art, Education, or a related field;
Has experience teaching high school Art and/or Design and demonstrates ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a growing program;
Is familiar with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme;
Demonstrates enthusiasm for working with high school boys and for the subject, and familiarity with trends in Design and Art education;
And is eligible to work in the United States.
