The Green Vale School is a co-educational, independent day school (PN-8) located on a beautiful 40-acre campus on the North Shore of Long Island. Approximately 25 miles from New York City, Green Vale has served families in surrounding suburban communities for nearly 100 years. While responsive to the best in current educational practices, Green Vale continues to believe in the value of a traditional liberal arts education. The Green Vale School has an opening for an Upper School English and Latin Teacher beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. Latin is offered to students of French and Spanish who meet the requirements to take on an additional course load. Our Latin 1 program spans 2 years at GVS (7th and 8th grade) and utilizes the Cambridge Latin Course, books 1 and 2.  An advanced degree in Latin or Classics and three years of experience preferred.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Teaching all aspects of literature, writing, vocabulary, and grammar to middle school students in grades 6-8;
• Teaching utilizing the Cambridge Latin Course to 7th and 8th Grade
• Amending and developing the curriculum as appropriate
• Developing students to be critical writers and thinkers
• A commitment to professional growth through collaboration with colleagues and attending workshops and conferences
• Serving as an advisor and/or coach
