The Akron Central School District lies in the northeast corner of Erie County, about 40 miles east of Buffalo, New York and 55 miles west of Rochester, New York. The district serves approximately 1400 students in Grades K -12 from the towns of Akron and Newstead, including 195 Native Americans, most of whom reside on the Tonawanda Reservation. The school complex, comprised of the elementary school, the middle school and the high school, is located in the Village of Akron. The district is among the top 20% of school districts in New York State.
Central office and building level administrative experience is preferred but all candidates with extensive, relevant administrative experience are encouraged to apply. Candidates should study the desired characteristics of the new superintendent as well as the challenges that lie ahead for the new superintendent. A salary up to $170,000 and a flexible benefit package will be offered to the successful candidate. The start date for the new Superintendent of Schools is July 1, 2019.
