Our summer program is currently recruiting for a Computer Science I teacher. Lakeside Summer School offers for-credit and skill-building courses for students entering grades 9-12. This course is an introduction to how computers work and how to write software. Students will learn some basics of programming in the Python language by writing a series of programs defined by their instructor. They will also have the opportunity to follow their own interests and pursue more complex projects that may require them to learn new, more advanced programming techniques. This is a graded course, and students will earn one half year of credit (semester) for the course. There will be about three hours of homework assigned each day. The position will be part time. The class will run June 24 – July 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with one hour of designated office hours every afternoon. There will also be a mandatory orientation on Thursday, June 20.

Create the curriculum for this course.
Create organized and engaging lesson plans for each day.
Supervise and instruct students during class time.
Provide individual support to students needing additional instruction.
Provide written comments at the end of the course for each student.
Compensation The stipend for this position is $4,000. Lunch is included. The course will only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small on June 1, the course will not run, and, therefore, the stipend will not be paid. A bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
