Michigan State University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, invites applications for two nine-month fixed-term teaching specialist positions in civil engineering beginning August 16, 2019. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching design and analysis classes both at the undergraduate and graduate level in civil engineering. The primary duties of this position are teaching and service. The teaching and service duties will be consistent with the department policies.
The candidate must have the ability to teach civil engineering courses in structural engineering, materials engineering, and geotechnical engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels and effectively communicate with undergraduate and graduate students. Successful candidates must have an M.S. degree in civil engineering and 3 to 5 years of industry or academic experience. Candidates who have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam and be either on track or have already obtained Professional Licensure will be given preference.
The candidate must be able to teach senior level and graduate level courses design and analysis of concrete and steel structures, advanced concrete materials, and soil mechanics.
The CEE Department at MSU is organized around civil engineering and environmental engineering degree programs, and faculty members specializing in research sub disciplines including structures, pavements, environmental and water resources. The Department currently has 22 tenure-system faculty members, with approximately 500 undergraduate and 130 graduate students. Degrees in both civil engineering and environmental engineering are offered at the BS, MS and PhD levels.
