Greens Farms Academy seeks a Middle School Earth Science Teacher to begin in August 2019. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience teaching science at the middle school level, a passion for working with middle school students, and a demonstrated capacity for designing and implementing place-based-learning projects. An advanced degree in a related field is a plus. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, who are flexible and creative, who will fully engage in the life of the school, and who are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable community. The position will involve teaching four or five sections of sixth grade Earth Science as part of a collegial Middle School faculty and PreK-12 science department that places significant emphasis on place-based and hands-on learning, design thinking, STEAM, and sustainability; the school sits at the junction of three ecosystems, all of which serve as outdoor classrooms. Please consult the school’s website for more information about the PreK-12 Sustainability signature program, as well as the Upper School capstone concentration in Human Ecology and Sustainability. Candidates should be prepared to participate in the many facets of independent school life, including leading an advisory group, leading clubs and activities, chaperoning trips, and coaching.
