Friends Seminary Lower School is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as a Kindergarten or Grade 1 Assistant Teacher.
A Kindergarten/Grade 1 Assistant Teacher (AT) at Friends collaborates with the lead teacher in planning the curriculum and reviewing lesson plans. AT’s prepare and study the materials being taught in order to be knowledgeable of lesson objectives. The AT works with the lead teacher to support student learning through whole class, small group or individualized instruction, and works in conjunction with the lead teacher to maintain a positive classroom learning environment to support the academic, emotional, and social growth of students.
Other responsibilities include: AT’s attend faculty meetings, required events and engage in ongoing professional development relevant to the position. They are required to attend specialized meetings to support their growth and development as educators and community members. They report directly to the Assistant Head of Lower School. As a member of the faculty, AT’s are expected to support the mission and philosophy of the school.

Experience guiding children between the ages of five and seven in a school setting. Some proficiency with Spanish language. Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred.
