Princeton Day School seeks experienced candidates for a full-time Middle School Humanities position, beginning Fall 2019. Teaching responsibilities may include two sections of 5th or 6th grade Humanities, an interdisciplinary English and History course. We are looking for teachers committed to the middle school aged student. Additionally, we seek candidates who are committed to our mission of educating and nurturing each student.
PDS is particularly interested in teachers who engage diversity, environmental sustainability, and global learning. We seek teachers who challenge students to apply critical thinking skills to both our studies and the world around them. Strong candidates will be knowledgeable about and committed to best practices, including interdisciplinary collaboration and the use of technology to enhance student learning. In developing and sharing curricular ideas, PDS teachers strive to create a coherent experience, full of supportive challenge, for all students.
A full-time faculty member serves as a homeroom advisor and has various duties, including an extra-curricular activity. Our faculty are expected to contribute to the school life outside the classroom.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English, History, or related fields
Affinity for working with Middle School students
Innovative and forward-thinking approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
A strong writing ability and experience with writing and grammar instruction
A strong investment in professional growth
Experience with technology integration
Experience with differentiated instruction
Experience with instructional strategies that promote key competencies, such as collaboration, communication, and critical thinking
