Lower School Spanish Teacher
Sayre School
Sayre School is currently accepting applications for a full-time, dedicated educator who loves Lower School students to teach Spanish to 3 year olds through 4th graders beginning in August, 2019. Sayre’s World Language program empowers students to explore, comprehend and appreciate cultures and languages as curious and empathetic world citizens. The candidate should, at a minimum, possess a degree in Spanish, Elementary Education or a related field, an interest in collaborating with a team of teachers, and experience working with 3 through 9 year olds. An active curiosity about kids and their learning styles, passion for language teaching, flexibility and a sense of humor are key. This is a wonderful independent school and a great place to work. The position includes teaching students in Pk-3, Pk-4, and K-4th grade. A comprehensive, rich curriculum guide with hands on materials, music and literature is available to be used by the hired teacher as the basis of their program, although instruction need not be limited by this curriculum. An organized teacher with a love of young children and the Spanish language will thrive! Students in our classes are engaged in active learning. They develop cultural competency and spoken language for interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communication. The thoughtful use of authentic materials, the regular use of the target language, and vibrant and purposeful engagement with existing and emerging technologies guide students toward building robust second language and general literacy skills, making them better citizens of an ever-changing world. Applicants are asked to submit a resume, cover letter, and the names of at least two references to Luanne Stiles at lstiles@sayreschool.org.
