St. Catherine’s School seeks a Middle School Earth and Space Science Teacher to begin work for the 2019-2020 school term. Responsibilities for this full-time position include the instruction of five Earth and Space Science sections, serving as a homeroom advisor, and additional duties such as coaching a sport, committee work and chaperoning events. Ideal candidates will have experience with problem-based instruction, possess strong technology skills, and have experience with and on-going interest in robotics.
The successful candidate will have a passion for Earth and Space Science and a college degree with a major in science or another STEM field (a Master’s degree and several years teaching experience with content in Earth and Space Science are preferred) and should have the energy to relate well to and to work with early adolescents. Good interpersonal and communication skills, and knowledge of authentic assessment as well as innovative assessment are qualities sought in the candidate. The candidate should have a proven adaptability to new and evolving technology and a vision regarding innovative use of these in the classroom. Coaching ability is also desirable as coaching is an important part of our school community.
