The Assistant Director of the Senior School, Student Life, provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight on all aspects of student engagement in school life and is a member of the Senior School Leadership Team and the Whole School Learning Council.

Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Director, Student Life:
Collaborate with the Whole School Learning Council who, collectively, take responsibility for developing and delivering an intentional and coordinated educational program from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 that is rooted in the school’s mission, vision and values and guided by a strategic plan
Collaborate with the Senior School Leadership Team and Administrative Assistants with the goal of developing and delivering an intentional and coordinated academic program for students in Grades 8 to 12, balancing curricular and co-curricular experiences
Provide oversight on and coordination of all aspects of the Senior School’s co-curricular program including:
Clubs / activities;
Drama and Music productions and performances;
Student leadership elections;
House-related activities including support for student leaders; and
Student leadership including support for Prefects
Collaborate with the Assistant Director, Ivy Compass, on specific aspects of the co-curricular program including:
Major trips (service and curriculum-based); and
Provide oversight of twice-weekly assemblies
Assume responsibility for annual events such as Remembrance Day, Carol Service and Awards Assemblies
Address, in consultation with the Director, Senior School, issues arising from student behaviour that is not in keeping with school policies and agreements, such as the Crofton House School Code of Conduct
Build relationships with parents through timely and responsive communication and availability.
Be available to support and attend school-related events and meetings during evenings and on weekends

Employment begins in August 2019 in advance of the return of teachers and students.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
Relevant university qualifications preferably at the graduate level (e.g. Bachelor of Education)
Prior experience in a school leadership role or evidence of significant leadership experience
Experience in an independent school, an asset
Evidence of long-term engagement in a co-curricular program
Experience leading teachers in any capacity
Experience working with student leaders, an asset
Understanding of risk management including mitigation strategies and crisis response
Knowledge of the learning styles of girls and young women
Collaborative and energetic with a passion for the profession of teaching
Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practice
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
A commitment toward continued professional development and growth
Energy, commitment and readiness to participate in the diverse life of the school community
