Hannah Senesh Community Day School, a progressive, independent K-8 Jewish school in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn, is hiring an experienced Coding teacher to join our 2019-20 faculty. The teacher will design and teach the curriculum to kindergarten through Eighth Grade students. The coding teacher will work with students during weekly classes on programming concepts, coding language, robotics, and will complete several relevant projects. In addition, students will be instructed on how computers work, including the basic science and mathematics behind their operation.

Develop specific computer science curriculum with various classes that could entail game programming, app programming, logic and critical thinking, robotics.
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities to students in Grades K-8
Create a dynamic, engaging, and collaborative learning environment

Keep current in the discipline by actively participating in staff development and professional growth activities
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher and mastery of core subject
Classroom teaching experience, preferably with multiple grade levels
Critical thinking and troubleshooting
Strong technology skills
High level of initiative
High degree of flexibility
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Experience with at least one coding language: HTML, C++, Python, PHP or similar
Commitment to excellence and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
